Hi... I'm Gayle...

Many great ideas are borne out of some kind of trauma, drama or desperation ... and Divinely Delicious is no different!  However, what was different is that I was not a baker and hadn't even baked a cookie since Home Economics class in Secondary School .. but I did love cooking and I adored taking care of my loved ones via their stomachs! 

Unfortunately, my life imploded when my marriage fell apart in 2010 which, ultimately, led to divorce, devastation and desperation... whilst trying to retain a semblance of normality for my young (at the time) daughter.  I felt like I had nothing!  The weekends I was without  my daughter were the hardest.  I  filled them with my favourite pastime, at that time, of beating myself up ...usually with a few glasses of wine!

One weekend a friend who I had shared many a meal (and a few drinks!) with over the years invited me round for dinner and I couldn't even afford the obligatory bottle of wine  to take with me (I'd drunk all the good stuff  from the wine rack!) so I decided to make a cake - no idea why! In fact, it was the very first cake I'd made as an adult!  You can see the results in the picture.  However, to be fair, it looked better than that as no idea why but this website has squashed it somewhat!! 

It was a Red Velvet Cake and, despite it looking a little scruffy it tasted divine!  So much so I was asked to make another, and another, and so on until my confidence grew so much that I was taking orders from strangers, starting to experiment with flavours such as my infamous Courgette & Orange Cake, Beetroot & Cherry and many others...and even branching out into muffins, cupcakes, breads, etc!

Had it not been for the divine intervention from my friend to save me from another weekend of beating myself up, I would never have discovered my hidden talent and absolute love for creating Divinely Delicious Cakes... look at that look on my face in the picture at the top...that's me in flow!  What do you do to get yourself into flow?  Even better question... what do you not yet know that you are brilliant at?
